Kangaroo Mother Care Program

Welcome to the Neuroscience Mama course on Kangaroo Mother Care, an evidence-based experience that supports improved health outcomes for newborns, including both preterm and full-term infants. In this program, you will view five short modules, each covering different information related to kangaroo mother care. Each module should take about 3-7 minutes to complete and can be paused and stopped at any point, so you can go at your own pace. There is a survey at the end of module 5 which will help us to refine the program on kangaroo mother care to make it more accessible and easier to understand for new mothers, as well as women who are pregnant or planning to become pregnant. We would greatly appreciate it if you would take 5-10 minutes to complete the survey after finishing the program. When you are ready, click on Module 1 to begin the course on kangaroo mother care! We are excited for you to learn about this special way to connect with your baby — one that supports their health, comfort, and development while strengthening your bond!

Note: Although this program uses the term mother, kangaroo care may also be provided by fathers or other family caregivers. Throughout the program, the term mother is used, but the principles discussed apply to any primary caregiver who is able to safely engage in kangaroo care holding.

Providing your email is optional and will allow the student investigator, Alaina Nickerl, to contact you in the event of any technical difficulties with the program.
